All About Autumn
"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." - F. Scott Fitzgerald
We are so happy to see the changing colors of the leaves on the trees, feel the crispness in the air, bask in the beautiful colors, and enjoy all the flavors of fall. From wearing cozy warm socks, to sitting by the fire, and sipping on a warm mug full of apple cider, this season is our absolutely favorite. The dogs can enjoy longer walks outside, jump in large piles of leaves, and snuggle near your feet on cold nights.
Here are some fun facts about Autumn:
- Autumn is said to begin between September 22nd-23rd; however, for the purposes of recording climate data, it is important to have set dates that can be compared, so the meteorological Autumn always begins on September 1st.
- Did you know that the shorter days are a sign to trees to begin to prepare for winter? We love when their leaves start to change color.
- The word autumn entered English from the French automne and didn't become common usage until the 18th century.
- Fall colors are caused by the amount of sugar in leaves. (Crazy, right?)
No matter how you spend the fall season, we hope it's full of fun and lots of new memories!
